The 4th International Congress on Zoo Keeping 9-13 September 2012 Singapore.
Theme: “Many Voices, One Calling”
Wildlife Reserves Singapore is proud to host in conjunction with the ICZ the 4th International Congress on Zoo Keeping, from September 9th to 13th, 2012. This conference themed “Many Voices, One Calling” hopes to bring together keepers and zoo professionals from around the World for the objectives of enhancing the professionalism of Zoo Keepers and the welfare of the wild animals in their care. Delegates from every country have much to contribute. We encourage keepers to share their knowledge and experiences in the field of Zoo Keeping with their fellow keepers at this momentous event. We look forward to hear your Many Voices committing to our One Calling. See you in Singapore 2012!

| USA 2009 |
The 3rd International Congress on Zoo Keeping and the 36th American Association of Zoo Keepers National Conference was hosted by The Puget Sound Chapter of AAZK and WoodlandPark Zoo on September 24th- 29th, 2009.

This Conference was a huge success and we are already planning for our next which will be held in Singapore in 2012. Dates and details will be announced in due course.

| Australia 2006 |
After the First Congress the ICZ's members decided to continue organising an international congress every 3 years. The second was held in Australia, at the Gold Coast in 2006.
It was in Australia that the Philippine Association (ZAP) and the African association (AKAA) were invited to assist and became members of ICZ.
The next aims for ICZ is to develop ICZ association to make new projects beyond organising congress.

2003
The first International Congress on Zookeeping was held at Avifauna in the Netherlands between the 4th and the 7th October 2003.
In the time since the first ICZ, the founding representatives from the seven professional Keeper Associations have agreed to work together in developing the group into a formal Association dedicated to the development of Zoo Keeping as a profession at an international level, and assist the establishment of professional Zoo Keeper Associations in those regions where such groups do not currently exist.
Over 300 Keepers from 27 different countries attended the conference and the variety of workshops, paper presentations and other developmental opportunities which were included in the programme. In addition, the tours to a number of zoological facilities within the region allowed everybody to view "behind the scenes" and experience some of the most modern practices in animal husbandry, exhibit design, and visitor and education facilities.

The genesis for the first "International Congress on Zookeeping" (ICZ) occurred at a meeting at the AAZK conference, held in Columbus, (Ohio, U.S.A.) in 2000.
Representatives at this meeting were from the seven major regional Associations for professional Zoo Keeping:
- American Association of Zoo Keepers (AAZK)
- Association of British Wild Animal Keepers (ABWAK)
- Australasian Society of Zoo Keeping (ASZK)
- Asociación Ibérica de Cuidadores de Animales Salvajes (AICAS)
- Association Francophone des Soigneurs Animaliers (ASFA)
- Berufsverband der Zootierpfleger (BdZ)
- Foundation Harpij (De Harpij)

As a result of the meeting, it was believed that a common conference for Zoo Keepers from around the world would not only improve the levels of communication between Keepers from different regions, but also serve as a basis for supporting the development of Zoo Keeping as a profession in regions where professional Zoo Keeping Associations did not currently exist.
The primary objectives for holding a conference for Zoo Keepers at an international level was to promote the development and application of professional animal welfare and husbandry techniques amongst Zoo Keepers, which would in turn benefit the wild animals under their care, and contribute to the conservation of wildlife.
